Creators of the Emmy Award-winning HBO fantasy show “Game Of Thrones”, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, have been critically acclaimed for their work on the show. Rated one of the top shows on air currently, “Game Of Thrones”, based on the book series “A Song Of Fire And Ice” by George R. R. Martin, has broken multiple records and has formed a cult fan-following.
The duo are now all set to start writing and producing a new “Star Wars” series, with fans rejoicing all over. The epic sci-fi fantasy series has been a fan favourite since its first part, “Star Wars : Episode IV – A New Hope” was released in 1977. The new films will be a separate story set in the same universe but very little has been revealed about the project.
“David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. “Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting.”
"In the summer of 1977 we travelled to a galaxy far, far away, and we've been dreaming of it ever since," Benioff and Weiss said in a joint statement. They also stated that they are to get started as soon as filming for “Game Of Thrones” ends in 2019. No release date for the series has been announced as of yet. However, the new series is not to be connected to the ongoing ‘Skywalker’ saga of the “Episodes” movies or to the trilogy being developed by filmmaker Rian Johnson.
