Glam Slam - Dia Bhandary talks with You & I

Providing a platform for high-end brands to showcase their products, Dia Bhandary never compromises on offering the best to her customers. Over the years, she has developed a niche for exclusive, luxury shopping and brings out a meticulously-planned show each time. Growing up in Mumbai and Bengaluru and now settled in Hyderabad, Dia shares that she initially only stumbled upon opportunities to enter the field of luxury brand consulting and events. This was when India was just opening up to luxury brands. When she soon after realised that this was up her alley, she knew exactly what to do next. While Dia also keeps herself occupied with the development of her family property in Bengaluru, she presently has her hands full with her upcoming event that showcases the products of Bvlgari on December 14 and 15 at Taj Krishna.

This work aside, the more remarkable thing about Dia is that she is the total package – beauty with brains. As smart as she is on the inside, she is alluring on the outside. Our extempore shoot with her more than proves it. Spilling some sass on our People pages, she adds charm to our glamour issue. Take a look!

What’s the most challenging situation you’ve faced at work?
This one time when the rain gods decided to play spoilsport during one of my events, the roads completely flooded and my guests ended up reaching very late. Although it was disappointing back then, I guess rains are often challenging and we’re usually prepared for it!

While curating a show, what types of customers do you cater to?
I always invite my guests keeping in mind their profile and interests. So they vary from event to event, depending on whether the product would interest them.

What do you look for in a brand before collaborating with them?
I usually promote brands that I relate to and believe in. They are usually products I use myself. I also prefer to work with brands that have a very high standard of quality and service.

How would you describe your style?
Contemporary classic.

What do you do when you’re not working?
I enjoy exercising and catching up with friends on the weekends. Binge-watching shows on Netflix is my guilty pleasure!

What are the five must-haves in the female wardrobe?
A great pair of jeans, a little black dress, a well-fitted jacket, nude heels, and a pair of chandelier earrings.

Who do you think is the most stylish today?
Kate Moss. She’s effortlessly chic.

What is a serious fashion faux pas?
Ill-fitted clothes.

A fashion trend you don’t like?
I’m not really crazy about the fanny pack trend.

Tell us about your own beauty routine.
For me, SPF is a must during the day. Cleansing and using an effective serum at bedtime is what follows. I also use face packs made at home with natural ingredients. And for my hair, oil massages are my weekly ritual!

What’s the craziest look you’ve tried so far?
I coloured my hair bright green a long time ago! But thankfully, my mother didn’t let that phase last too long (laughs)!

How do you stay fit?
I workout with my trainer for about four to five times a week. Exercising has become a way of life rather than something I do because I have to.

What’s your biggest fashion indulgence?

A fashion mistake you avoid?
I try to be careful while wearing low-waist jeans that could expose undergarments while bending over.               – as told to Sumana
