Pakistan batsman Asif Ali’s daughter no more

Pakistani batsman Asif Ali’s daughter who was suffering from stage 4 Cancer passed away in the United States on Sunday. It was only last month that the batsman announced that his daughter would be flying to the US for treatment.

Dean Jones who coached the Islamabad team to the PSL title last year broke down in tears when he spoke about the child’s condition in March.

Though Asif Ali is not in the World Cup squad, former captain and chairman of the selection committee, Inzamam-Ul-Haq said that he could be make it as teams have time until May 23rd to submit their final squad. Pakistan’s first encounter is against the West Indies first on May 31st.

Asif Ali is a great example of courage and sportsmanship as the batsman was touring with the Pakistan squad in England instead of spending time with his daughter. Tributes have been pouring in for the batsman who put his heart and soul into the game, smashing two half-centuries in four innings during this traumatic time.      -Nitasha Silesh
